Generous Helpings

Generous Helpings is an annual tasting event hosted by Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to support their Grocery Rescue Program. This program plays a crucial role in fighting hunger by recovering surplus food, such as frozen meats, fresh produce, dairy, and non-perishables, from over 300 grocery stores. Instead of letting this nutritious food go to waste, Second Harvest redistributes it to families and individuals in need across the region. Generous Helpings is both a celebration of this mission and a key fundraiser to keep it going.

Held at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, the event brings together food lovers, local chefs, and community supporters for an evening of delicious food, fine wine, and craft beer. Guests (ages 21 and up) can enjoy unlimited tastings from some of Nashville’s most beloved restaurants, such as Edley’s BBQ, Blue Aster, Thai Esane, The Pepper Pott, and many more. The ticket price includes access to all tastings, drinks, and complimentary valet parking, making it a convenient and memorable night out for a great cause.

What makes Generous Helpings especially meaningful is its impact. Proceeds from the event directly fund Second Harvest’s efforts to rescue and redistribute food, helping ensure that thousands of pounds of edible goods are kept out of landfills and redirected to hungry neighbors instead. The event also shines a light on Kroger’s support and commitment to the “Zero Hunger, Zero Waste” initiative—aligning corporate responsibility with local community needs.

In essence, Generous Helpings is more than just a night of great food—it’s a way for the community to come together and make a real difference. It exemplifies how culinary creativity and compassion can come together to fight food insecurity across Middle Tennessee.
