Summer Food with the YMCA

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

Hey y’all, I’ve been thinking a lot about how hard this summer will be for so many families now that Tennessee isn’t doing the SUN Bucks program anymore (a federal program that provides meals for kids over the summer). It’s frustrating when people in charge make choices that hurt kids who just need food. I’ve had to remind myself that even when things feel unfair, God hasn’t forgotten about us.

That’s why it’s so inspiring to see our local YMCA stepping up with free meals for families. It’s like God’s showing us He still provides, just in different ways. And it makes me wonder…what if we’re part of His plan too? Maybe we can’t fix everything, but we can pray, share about the Y’s program, or even help out if we’re able.

This whole thing reminds me of the story where Jesus fed thousands with just a little boy’s lunch. God can take our small efforts and make them matter way more than we think. So let’s trust Him and look for ways to be part of the good He’s doing.

Prayer: God, thank You for always being with us, especially when life feels hard. Please take care of families who are struggling this summer. Help me to see where I can help, even in small ways. Amen.

There are 11 locations across Middle TN where the Y is handing out free food until the first week of August. Find the locations here.
